"Juke*", who's full, yet unofficial, stage name, "Jukebox", is as indicative of his range of talents as it is ambiguous about his musical direction. He creates pictures with his lyrics, paints portraits with his singing then all of a sudden leaves the musical canvas blank & lets his amazing production take the front seat; this unpredictability keeps you wanting more even if you don’t know what’s coming next.
Atlanta born and universally influenced, is the best way to describe Juke*’s musical make-up. Even though he likes to think his originality shines through most–of-all, Juke* says he pulls something from every artist he listens to from Andre 3000, A$AP & TDE to Drake, Lana Del Rey & Jesse Ware. After his debut mixtape , the highly rated “real dreams ep” surfaced, the comparisons to The Weeknd and Drake seem to be inescapable and while Juke* prides himself on being unlike anyone else, he thinks being likened to artists of that stature is always a compliment.
On February 9, 2012, Juke*, released his previously mentioned, debut, mixtape “real dreams ep” to high praise and blogger acclaim. Throughout the tape the listener is allowed to dive into the reality of Juke*’s past & present relationships and to take a peek at the dreams he has for his future. Each track gives progress to the story, each verse reveals more and more about his outlook on life, like it or not; and every song is its own individual masterpiece; “real dreams* ep” can be enjoyed as a complete project or each song can be appreciated apart from the story. All music listeners can and should enjoy.
